Why I Joined Fire/EMS
A long time ago my home burnt to the ground. Unfortunately there was a very small volunteer fire department in my area and they were fighting another fire 10 miles away. We succeeded in getting our daughters out of the house but our oldest daughter was not breathing. We had several smoke detectors but not one went off. We had adopted an arson dog about 8 months prior and she saved our lives. Unfortunately she died a couple of days later. A couple of firefighters heard our call and came to our aid. They helped us to get out daughter breathing again. They attempted to save the house but we told them to let it go our
daughter was more important. After extinguishing the other fire the guys and girls spent another 3-4 hours salvaging what they could from what was left of our home. They were exhausted and hungry but they stayed with us even though their job was done. We decided then that given the opportunity we would "pay it forward " and return what was given to us.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
i love helping people especially those in need
