Other Past or Current Departments and Organizations
I just finished 10 years as IAFF Local 29 President, 27 years serving on the Executive Board, F.O.O.L.S. 1975, 18 month with Boise City Fire Department, Idaho. 1976/78 Richland, Washington FD and Spokane International Airport Fire ( IAFF Local 1789 President while there).
My Training:
Engine work 23 years
Truck work 12 years
Squad work 3 years (on our dept. a squad was, all cut by budget cuts, a medic/non-transport unit) I was the officer not the medic, we did search and truck work at fires.
Tech rescue certified, 1998
About Me:
Family, fire, motorcycles and travel.
My brother is a 27 year firefighter on Austin, Texas Engine 10. My son-in-law is an 11 year FF with Spokane County Engine 99. My cousin is a Battalion Chief on my Department. My sons best friend is on probation on our job.
I am also free from religion.
I am a Democrat/Socilaist, and proud of it.
Gregory, Welcome to the Firefighter Nation. I am glad you dropped in to join the group. Dont be shy. There is lots to do, read and be involved with. Your participation and involvement is important to us all.
Well, you certainly keep things in the family. "A great profile Greg."

Greg, I hope you are ready for the storm? Your latest posts on the 'volenteer' thread are almost certain to bring it on! Especially at this time of the year...
I agree with that you have written. I lnow that when I was in the Army, the only reasons I ever heard from those going to Vietnam were no tax, low interest housing loan, war zone allowance, and adventure. The bit about going over to help was always added last, because that was of cause the reason we were given.
Heroism? From some yes, but not all. They do their job. I also don't like people calling me a hero, I'm not, I'm a firefighter.
LOL,
Greg, I ask those very questions every friggin time. Clearly there are many more important things to worry about than correct spelling and grammar.
"...the education of some of these people..."
LOL WHAT education?
It appears the juniors have taken over with their caption this, I guess it beats the hell out of any real discussion.
Thanks for the welcome cousin lol,you all seem very friendly on this site- but then again we are all Firefighters so the cameraderie is showing through !
Hi Greg. GB is pretty small in the picture. We have 7 stations, 7 engines 2 1/2 trucks (we drop staffing of one truck if below 47 for the day....part of the cuts we endured) 4 ambulances. We have a staff of about 185 FF's, all are EMT and about 70 or so paramedic.
Greg,
I now have da Chief (or one of his 'minions') snooping around my comments page and leaving comments for you there, on my page. I commented to da Chief if he wanted me to pass you a note after gym class. He didn't respond. He does however feel it makes more sense for him to comment to you on a comment from you to me on my comment page rather than comment directly to you on your comments page about any comment you made about him to me on my comment page. fuckall even I'm confused now.
LT. Greg, thanks, i have always wondered if the officers got to actually fight the fire or if they stayed with IC. i know it is purely matter of opinion, but in your opinion who makes the best leather lid? i am looking to buy one but have no one where to try one on or demo one so i kind have to just go off what i read on here there is a old 5A cairns in our fire hall and i like the feel and weight of it but i didnt if the have changed any.... Thanks, Devan
It always fun to hear from people with swedish roots :) I wish i had emigrated forefathers :/ I really want to move to the states, but it seems to be almost impossible if you dont have relatives whit US citizenship :(

yes. the Drumondville Voltigeur played for the mémorial cup buy i don't know when.
i know someone who can answer that, i 'll ask him and then i'll give you feedback.
Gilles
Hy Gregory this is the answer from a freind who know the Drumondville Voltigeur
"Les voltigeurs ont gagnés la coupe du président durant la saison 2008-2009 mais ont perdus en demis-finales de la coupe memorial contre les spitfires de Windsor.
Et en 1990-91 les voltigeurs avaient perdus en finale a la coupe memorial contre les chiefs de spokane."

Greg,
Sorry so late with this response, I don't remember seeing it. The title is basically an old saying that an old Bat. Chief used to say. Meaning that we are our own worst enemies in most cases. In the firehouse, on the fireground and so on. That is the basis of the blog and the class that I present by the same title.
Take care and have a very Happy Thanksgiving.
Jason
No wonder I liked your responses... Not having looked at your website prior, you've been around the block once or twice. Anyone who is an IAFF brother and has gray hair is cool with me. Stay safe Greg.

Greg, no, Aumsville is about 6 houre north east of us next to Salem. Actually just down the road from our State Fire Academy. I am not familiar with the firefighters in that area Sorry Ladd. We are at the far end of the Oregon coast next the Cal/Or border.
No not yet, unfortunately there are no departments around here hiring yet. But i do start college Monday to get my associates in Fire Science. A few departments are fixing to accept applications, and I am going to be there to get one. I cant wait to get my career rolling!
