Help found the Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Dept. In which I was Captain. Was asked to join the Potosi Fire Protection District due to my performance on Firefighter 1 and 2 in which I made a 98% on both FF1 and 2. Became Lt. of my own firehouse for 5 yrs. which made me the first female firefighter in the Dept's 35yr. history.

My Training:

I have Firefighter 1 and 2 with Haz Mat Awareness and Ops. Other training: too many to list here.

About Me:

I am a mother of 3, ages 13,19,and23. I am Engaged to the most wonderful man and plan to be maried this summer. I recruited him into the Firefighting family in January. I owned my own convenience store for 8 yrs. I'm a HAM radio operator. I have my tech license. I Helped found a Civil Air Patrol Unit in Potosi.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS

I never thought I would ever become a firefighter. When I was 29 I was asked to help found a new Fire Dept. I accepted. After that date, I was hooked! 11 years later I'm still going at it with no plans to stop. It is now 'In my blood'.

Why I Love Fire/EMS

All I ever wanted to do is to help ppl. Saving lives is the icing on the cake. I wouldn't trade that experience for anything.

Top Issues Facing Responders:

In my experience one of the top issues facing responders is the newer cars with their multiple air bag systems and the electric cars.
