Hi Roger, thanks for the friendship request, as you've probably already guessed I'm new to this site. This proves the Firefighter brotherhood is global. Keep low, keep safe brother
Thank You, Roger, for the welcome to this website. I was in COS in Mid July to see family. Had the oppotunity to visit the IAFC conference which just happened to be in the same hotel we were staying at. My wife called it a conspiracy and kept reminding me I was on vacation!!
Good Day,
I’m Stephen Eric P. Chua from the Philippines, me and my group ( 20 persons ). from all walks of life are all volunteer members of our peace & order council in our local community involve in various activities such as, peace keeping, emergency response team ( medical or calamity), and other volunteer works including fire fighting in our local community. We serve as an auxiliary group when needed by our Barangay (Local Community) Captain or Chairman.
As part of it all, we sometimes responded to fire calls without proper gears, such as turnout gears, helmets, hoods, gloves, and fire boots. Our Barangay only had 5 sets of fire fighting gears for their regular members; we sometimes borrow from them in case the need arises. We love and dedicate our free time in volunteer work and serve our fellowmen for free. But the lack of proper fire gears & equipments are sometimes a hindrance to our group in responding to fire & other emergency calls, it’s because the price of such gears & equipments here in the Philippines are too expensive and much high value for the good branded ones, and we ourselves could not afford to purchase it. And being a volunteer here, one should gear himself with the needed gears & equipments individually.
It would be a great help to us from you guys out there.
In regarding this matter and in behalf of my group may I respectfully request for your donation or support from your kind hearted ones, used ,2nd hand, or surplus turnout gears, fire helmets, hoods, gloves, fire boots, fire & rescue gears and equipments that are already not in use by your brigades. It would be a great help to us.
I’m hoping for your kind hearted consideration in regarding this matter. Thank you and keep safe. God Bless you all.
Best regards;
Mr. Stephen Eric P. Chua

Hello Roger:
Thank you for your warm welcome to this wonderful group. I have not had much time to get on here as late due to the fact that we (London Firefighters) are in the middle of serious Industrial action against our employers. They have ripped up our Contract and want us to sign a new one or resign. The new contract changes our start and finish times and also has a load of Strings attached which will change our whole family life as we know it now. 5500 firefighters are involved in this and could lose their jobs next month.
We do not mind change but they are bullying all of us with their lies and underhand media tricks. They are suspending some of us for speaking our minds and issuing others with written warnings just for speaking out against these terrible changes to our lives. We have now got one month to agree to sign the contract or they will start procedures to remove us from duty. Sorry to start of our friendship on this sad note but that is all that matters to me at this time. I hope you are having an easier time in your workplace then we are.
What is it like working at your department my friend. Take care and hope to speak soon.
Alan
Cheers mate
We have a pretty good union here who are working hard to get us the best deal. we are being ballotted on which 2 shift times to pick at this time. the result will be know in about 4 weeks. If we agree to one then that will stand but if we dont agree to any we could be sacked. If you want to know more you can find out by joining " I Support londons finest Firefighters" on facebook. there is a big debate going on at the moment with a lot of angry Firefighters.
Take care mate
Alan
