Why I Joined Fire/EMS: My grandpa was a Capt with Garfiled County Fire Dist #1 for many years before he passed away, when I was very young. So When I was 17 I joined the same dept that he was on. Alot of the guys that were on when I joined was on when he was on. They would tell me stories of some of the things he did or would do. I guess he was a big stickler on having the higbees lined up just prefectly. So I have been going strong since then. My cousin also was a firefighter for many years. So as they say its in the blood.
Why I Love Fire/EMS: Helping other people and the satisfaction that you get when you know you just helped someone out.
Top Issues Facing Responders:: Volunteer Recruitment and Retention.

I read about the Othello fire, 262, did your dept. do any work up there? Pilot Rock has an arsonist that has touched off a few fires, one in Echo, too. Besides that, it's been fairly quiet esp. for harvest. The weather has sure helped a bunch. Where did summer go? lol
I'm keeping busy with paperwork. That part never seems to end weather it's busy out or not. :)
I was in Hermiston at Sta 3 on Monday night for a Fire Defense Board meeting. Other than that, I try to find reasons not to head that way. I'd rather go to Tricities or Walla Walla instead.

Hi Danny, Yeah, things are good around here. We didn't get hit too badly with the lightning the other day, thankfully. So far we've only had a couple veg. fires this season. Supposed to warm up quite a bit this week though. I'm not exhaling 'till Christmas. lol Did you get to play on the 730 fire? I watched it from up high but that was it. :(

things here are alright. my grandmother has been in the hospital for three weeks with heart stuff. She had quad bypass and valve replacement surgery a little over two weeks ago. Other than that life is pretty ok. It's foggy and rainy tonight. if it's foggy here anywhere generally the airport will be in it.

Good morning Danny.. Good to hear from you! Not alot going on over here on my side of the mountain. Just finished up a firefighter 1 academy, and the recruits took their state practicals on Saturday. Nice! Now I am wondering what I am gonna do with all that extra time.. ha Weather has been gorgeous, and been getting lots of spring yardwork done... Not alot of calls or fires to respond to, so its been pretty boring for that part... Worried about the summer though. Think it might be a bit on the dry side? Hmmm... How about you? How are things over Kennewich way? Do tell! And keep safe!
