Other Past or Current Departments and Organizations
This is the first fire department that I have been associated with. I was the Operations Manager for Air/Med-Evac and Seaview Aviation as well as a flight medic (EMT) for Air/Med-Evac for 10 years.
My Training:
I received my Fire Fighter 1 and 2 at Brookings Fire & Rescue; I am an EMT-B. I am an Engineer/Driver on this department and I have my Fire Fighter Instructor certificate. I am the quartermaster and a memember of the Safety Committee. I also am Wildland Certified and Hazmat Certified. I passed the EMT-I class but have yet to test for my certification.
About Me:
I am highly energentic with a type A personality, I can't stop "doing"! I love to help anywhere I can and I feel sad when my paid job prevents me from going on calls during the day. I have been a single parent (mostly) for the past 18 + years. I have a beautiful 20 year old daughter who is in lin college to become an Orthodontist and I have an 18 year old son who is a very handsome young man. He enjoys skateboarding and he is awesome at it.
I have a beautiful dog who is my substitute child when the kids are gone. I bottle fed my pup since he was 2 days old so we are very very close.
I had two awesome quarter horses but recently had to put down our 28 year old mare, Windy. RIP Windy. Her foal, Tipsey is 5 years old now and has perfect confirmation.... she is such an awesome horse and is so beautiful! I don't spend nearly enough time with my horse but it's fun to ride when I can.
I also have two cats. Hence to say, I LOVE ANIMALS!
I love life, hardwork, the outdoors, skiing (water & snow), hiking, swimming, scuba diving, walking, GOD, watching a good movie, relaxing on the couch with a good book, and just being...I am very comfortable with myself and my life and try not to sweat the small things!
Day Job:
I have been a Paralegal for the past 19 years.
Relationship Status:
Single
Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I worked for an Air Ambulance Company as a flight medic for 10 years and really enjoyed it. The company went out of business and I moved on to the working in legal field in San Francisco, CA. About 5 years ago, after moving back to Oregon, I joined the awesome team at Brookings Fire & Rescue and received my EMT-B, Fire Fighter 1 & 2, Engineer, Fire Fighter Instructor and WildLand Certified. I just enjoy the excitement of the calls and volunteering my time to help my community.
It's really cool to find someone with the same passions and is a firefighter also. My name is Terri and I am a career firefighter. Would love to continue conversation with you. Take care.
I have shown horses for 41 years. Other than firefighting, that is my passion. I have shown everything under the sun except Dressage. Haven't had time to do much riding though. I am also a Batt. Cheif in my volunteer company, teach fire school and work another EMS job. I like keeping busy. Nice talking with you, please keep in touch.
Hi Jan

JACK (age 3) was watching his Mom breast-feeding his new baby sister. After a while he asked: 'Mom why have you got two? Is one for hot and one for cold milk?'
MELANIE (age 5) asked her Granny how old she was. Granny replied she
w as so old she didn't remember any more. Melanie said, 'If you don't
remember you must look in the back of your panties. Mine say five to six.'
STEVEN (age 3) hugged and kissed his Mom good night. 'I love you so much that when you die I'm going to bury you outside my bedroom window.'
BRITTANY (age 4) had an ear ache and wanted a pain killer. She tried in vain to take the lid off the bottle. Seeing her frustration, her Mom explained it was a child-proof cap and she'd have to open it for her. Eyes wide with wonder, the little girl asked: 'How does it know it's me?'
SUSAN (age 4) was drinking juice when she got the hiccups. 'Please don't give me this juice again,' she said, 'It makes my teeth cough.'
DJ (age 4) stepped onto the bathroom scale and asked: 'How much do I cost?'
MARC (age 4) was engrossed in a young couple that were hugging and kissing in a restaurant. Without taking his eyes off them, he asked his dad: 'Why is he whispering in her mouth?'
CLINTON (age 5) was in his bedroom looking worried When his Mom asked what was troubling him, he replied, 'I don't know what'll happen with this bed when I get married. How will my wife fit in it?'
JAMES (age 4) was listening to a Bible story. His dad read: 'The man named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city but his wife looked back and was turned to salt.' Concerned, James asked: 'What happened to the flea?'
TAMMY (age 4) was with her mother when they met an elderly, rather wrinkled woman her Mom knew. Tammy looked at her for a while and then asked, 'Why doesn't your skin fit your face?'
The Sermon I think this Mom will never forget...this particular Sunday sermon...'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust...' He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'
