And you will catch him/her.
Does the person that you suspect fit within any profile that you know of?
When you respond with the other departments, is there anyone who stands out among the rest? Is there someone who is uncharacteristically asking alot of questions with regards to fire cause and origin?
Have you spoken with the other departments about anyone who might be getting a jump on the call? Any pattern to who is arriving at their station first?

I agree with the profiling of your arsonist as art has said. Has the dispatcher recorded all conversations via 9-1-1 and if they have check for voice patterning. If it gets down to it, you can also make a mandate at all reported building fires to do a scene size up AND do a preliminary search for evidence outside. (shoe prints, gas trails, etc.) Patterning behaviors will also help you pinpoint your arsonist. Remember this one useful tidbit of knowledge and use it for your investigation. At 0230 there should be only one person who is wide awake without sign of sleep, and thats a good lead for a suspect. Not many stay awake that late, and once you get a name or 2, you have a starting point.
I wish you the best of luck, it sucks when one turns on you.
Bob:
That is great news.
Still sucks that it was a firefighter though.
With the rape charge, he will go away for a very long time; that is, if some wienie prosecutor doesn't plea bargain it.
Hope there is a happy, happy ending.
I'd have more than one cold one.
Congratulations.

Bob:
Unfortunately, when our adoring public sees the headline, they don't think like we do.
I agree; that aren't firefighters-they are scumbags, lower than whale shit.
But people expect cops to catch scumbags. It's when they get someone with a pedigree like a firefighter that gets the media attention.
As much as I'd like to think that a firefighter arrested, charged and convicted of arson doesn't touch an entire fire service, I believe that it does.
Fire departments are quick to point out that it wasn't THEIR scumbag. But the fact is that the fire service has its share of scumbags, too.
Let me know where I can go to stay hooked into the trial. I love reading trial transcripts. (I was going to be a lawyer at one time).
Take care and I hope this is the last one like this that you will deal with.

Sounds like copycat or someone was working in concert with him and is letting you know that he's "still working".
Man; there's just no rest.

Hey Bob. I am going to mirror some of what Art has stated. A lot of times in the case of "whacker pyro's" they travel in small packs. (usually 2-3 people) the one arrest is scaring the hell out of the brethren of the arsonist you have locked up, and to try and clear the name of the person in custody, be prepared for more arson fires, and potentially with a greater frequency. Good luck
