Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I come from a long line of firefighters. It is just a way of life that I was raised with, and couldnt imagine living a "normal" life without it. For those of you in the Boston, NY area, my grandparents were Avery and Doris Pierce. You will recognize those names as the founding members and first veteran first aid instructors of the Boston Emergency Squad back in 1966. Doris received a metal from the President of the United States for being the first female instructor for the Red Cross back in the 1940's. My recently deceased father is a 35 year veteran of (my company) the Scranton Vol Fire Co. My uncle, Leonard Haag, was Captain of the now infamous Ladder 5 from the City of Buffalo, NY which was destroyed in a devastating propane blast that took 5 firefighter's lives back in late December 1982 or 83, I cant remeber which year off the top of my head. He retired about 8 months before, and was not involved in the blast. I love helping the community, and as you can see, it is in my blood. I was put on this earth to do this.

Its not such a bad title, is it? It could be worse. At least they aint callin ya shit for brains (at least not that I know of). Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone. Its just that some of us make fewer mistakes than others. Mistakes are how we learn, and believe me....I've done A LOT of learning over the last 25 years. You'll get there. I tried calling your phone, and I got a recording that it aint in service. YOU call ME tomorrow morning after 0900 and we will figure it out. Thanks, Greg
