About Me:
Other than being a Correctional Officer during mid-day, I LOVE when the pager goes off. It's music to my ears. I love the fact that I'm helping the community and get such an adrenaline rush from it. My husband and I both are on the dept. so it makes it fun too. He is my mentor kind-of. He likes to just go and work/play and sometimes leaves me hanging. We usually go our seperate ways on the fire scene. Everyone helps each other out though. I've learned a lot throughout the years. The only thing I will not do is drive the trucks. I hate driving trucks. It's just a thing of mine. I am one that is ALWAYS eager to pack up and go in; and most of the time I do. Everyone on our dept. has their certain things they like to do and some do all. We are not an organized dept. where we all have certain assignments because we never know who is going to show up, if any. I take great pride in what I do and I will never give it up for anything.
I became a part of emergency services because the medical field has always intrested me ever since I was younger. When I was younger I thought I would be a doctor but the amount of schooling didn't appeal to me so EMT it was. I do this part-time as a hobby. My husband is also an EMT-IV Tech and a Firefighter part-time.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I like to help people who are in need.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
I think one of the top issues for our dept. is definately lack of funding for new apparatuses. We need newer trucks. We spend lots of time repairing the older ones. I just think we need to find somebody who is experienced in writing grants. That would make a huge difference.
I don't know. It sure was disapointing and COLD! What was really amazing was the silence after the fieldgoal was good. Everybody just stood up and left. Well, all except a few hundred very happy Giants' fans.

Welcome to the Firefighter Nation. In addition to the relatively cool videos and fire scene photos, there are numerous groups, discussions and chat available.
If you have never had the opportunity, take a minute to explore firefighterclosecalls.com and the secret list. This is a wonderful web site to explore and learn from the mistakes of others. It is also, sadly, a roll call of those whom have made the ultimate sacrifice, in their service to their communities.
We have all joined the Public Safety Community for a variety of our personal reasons. Some of us are paid, while others volunteer. Many are firefighters, while others enjoy the EMS side of the house. We have active firefighters, line officers, chiefs, administrative officers, and a number of old timers who have seen most of the mistakes already made at least once. We have firefighters with many many years of experience, and others that, well, don’t. All are welcome here in The Nation. We welcome your input, just as we hope that you learn from the experiences of others.
Personally, I have 31 years service to the local fire department. I have held most line officer positions, and some administrative as well. Now part of the Old Guard so to speak, I am less inclined to go charging into where others are trying to escape. Instead, I choose to monitor the fire scene closely, attempting to ensure the safety of all on the fire scene.
I welcome you to the FFN. Here we all share one common goal.....
I'm with you on the snow and cold! It's getting pretty old. Not many places to throw it anymore. We have been pretty busy compared to what we usually have for fires. 2 house fires, a pick=up truck in a loading dock and a lot of car accidents and other EMS calls. I have had to fight a few fires in the below zero temps in my time. It makes everything so much harder to do from slips and falls to frozen hose lines/nozzles, SCBA's, etc. It's so much nicer when it's above freezing.

Yeah, even though it's like 50 degrees which is like so cold to me..lol.. I can't complain... I love the beaches. Usually the beach is how my family spends quality time together..
Thats awesome your coming to Fl. I live like 20 min from Tampa. Well, depends on traffic. If it's rush hour then it takes an hour. LOL. Once you get here and get to the beach your going to wish you never left Fl.. LOL.. Good luck miss Jen. P.s. If you need a tour guide, just let me know...
thank you, everyone seems too think he is so cute, he loves the fire trucks, but he is still a little scared to go in them, thats all he talks about is the fire trucks, he is so into the fire trucks right now, when he stops being scared he'll be able to ride in them with us.
hey there, yea its monday but im in the lobby so thats hard, thanks i just picked some songs quick, i like your songs too, yea enjoy the weather on your weekend off, haha..... have a good weekend, stay out of trouble.. Tom
yea you have to do something to keep busy, otherwise it just isn't worth have the day off, maybe you could shovel, maybe youll get a car accident, or something today cause of the weather.
Hey Jen yes i remember you guys from WEMSA. I had a blast down there, i couldnt make it this year but maybe next year. It wasnt as fun b/c i wasnt there to spice it up alittle. Thats a pic i took when i was a badger game its madisons station the one right acrosst from the statium. Thats really funny that you found me on here that means you have facebook right i guess i will have to add you to my friend list. It was nice to hear from you guess hope all is well. Later Gator.
i dont think we will get hit with the flooding again, like that one year, i know berlin is the one that is ready to flood, so we are getting ready for that. so i was actually thinking of getting flood ins, but im not to sure the the water would really get to me but it could be possible, so ill have to see i guess
hello, how the hell are you, im ok, are you on vacation, i thought you might have been mad at me, but maybe you got over it, thats cool, we had to gp to town of utica, for mutual aid last night, the had an explosion an the utica energy dryer plant, but it turned out to be just a little fire which was good, the truck i drove in, as soon as we got on scene we turned around and left, it was so exciting, yeah
I'm doing pretty good miss Jen, thank you. I've been studying for my ged. Math is the only thing that kills me. I'm some what of a self taught person, but math is just not one of them!!! Thats whats going to be the hardest for me. So, how are you doing? Hope everything is cozy.
Nice to hear back from you. We're pretty busy with the routine calls. Didn't I read a little while ago that one of your tenders/tankers rolled over? Hope everyone is OK from that.
yes greenville now, they get about 180 fire calls and around 350 ems calls thats very close to omro, so far i like greenville a thousand times better, one thing is we get paid omro was nothing at all, and i like the trucks a lot better and the first and only training ive been to was awesome and i learned more last night than i learned in the 4 years that i was on omro, and the atmosphere is so much more pleasent to work in, and there are no stupid rules to follow, we can pretty much do what we want without having people talk behind your back and like getting tshirts we can get what we want the dept doesnt have to approve it and like lights for our personal vehicles we can get what we want the dept doesnt require you use just the front stupid dash light that they provide, so its really a lot better now on this dept im happier, and we cover the outagamie county airport so thats another new experience so im looking forward to that, only one problem and that is that im not on first responders yet so that sucks soon though hopefully
