Yes, we teach them fire prevention and safety. We have to practice doing a fire drill once a month with the kids. They learn about that mostly during fire-prevention week. We practiced drills everyday during that week. We watched a Sparky safety cartoon. We talked about things like safety plans with their families, smoke detectors, changing batteries, FIREFIGHTERS (Miss Lisa's favorite topic, lmao.), stuff like that. They made things like firetrucks out of construction paper, little Firefighter helmets out of egg cartons, lol, and they each made their own pretend smoke detector out of heavy cardbooard which they really loved!! All week we would hear them telling their parents it's time to change the batteries, lmao! They year before that I know they had the FIRE CHIEF come in!! Yeah...and I wasnt even working at that site yet!! Damn my luck!!

Wow...they must really love that! And I can only imagine the fun they have playing fireman with pieces of real firefighter waterhose! That is really great!
The books sound so great,thanks! But I will let you know...I couldnt just let you send me them for free. I would want to pay for them and all the postage and handling. Not sure how much that would cost all the way from New Zealand!! Lol

as far as the schools have fire dept supported programs...not that i know of.they pretty much left it up to the fd to bring a presentation and materials as well...talk to you later gator

Awww! Thank you,Craig. I know...I do have to get to bed...but it's so fun online sometimes! Lol...but I do get up at 5 a.m. I work 6:30a.m. till 1:30 p.m.

Hi Craig! Nope, no finger painting today. They got to have free play today ( they choose to do whatever they want). It rained all morning so we were indoors. The sun came out in the afternoon but Im finished work at 1:30 p.m. so I didnt get to play outside with them today.
