Hows things in Tongie,I use to live in Liberty,Mo.Worked KCFD for a while the Hyatt thing kinda played me out for a time.Moved and went back to small vol.dept.I love it.I know some folks in tongie,I'll ask you about them later if you don't mind.
Hey ya sorry about last noc. I will be there next time though I promise. And I am so sorry you had to be the one to run the ultimate call that none of us ever want to deal with. I know that Tony could not have gotten any better care and that you gave your all as you do with everyone that you take care of.
My name is Tom Kenney. I’m a 24-year veteran and Fire Lieutenant on the Providence Fire Department. I’m pleased to announce that I’ve recently had my book, Working Class Hero: Memoirs of a Providence Fireman, published by Publish America (ISBN 1-4137-3107-4).
This is the first book of its kind written by a Providence Firefighter in 118 years.
“You can almost smell the smoke and feel the heat. ‘Working Class Hero: Memoirs of a Providence Fireman’ is a three-alarm read. It’s taken from the 23-year on-the-job experiences of a second-generation Providence firefighter who could shrug off tragedy with a flippant remark, time after time after time. Required reading.” (Wally Pickford -The Reporter)
“…his experiences pull the reader in and force them to think about the bravery of firefighters and of their own mortality.” (Kelly Smith - Warwick Beacon)
“Working Class Hero: Memoirs of a Providence Fireman is one man’s action-packed account of twenty-three years of life as a firefighter in busy metropolitan Providence – the third largest city in the Northeast. Experience what it’s like to be taken on one emergency call after another – fires, shootings, stabbings, and more. Encounter situations that are completely unimaginable to the average citizen. Thoughtfully written with the reader in mind, describing each stage of an incident, this book allows the reader to visualize riding along with the firefighters as they pull up to a scene and must take immediate action. In this book, Lieutenant Tom Kenney will take you inside the mind of a firefighter as he makes life and death decisions. Celebrate his victories and suffer his defeats. Glimpse a world few people ever experience. From practical jokes and fun around the firehouse to gut-wrenching real-life tragedies, this book covers it all!”
The book is currently available at Barnes & Noble Book Stores, Borders Books, and online through www.amazon.com and www.publishamerica.com. It is a full size paperback edition, 224 pages, and retails for $19.95.
Tom Kenney can be reached via e-mail at tekpfd@cox.net & at his webpage at: www.ProvidenceFireman.com.
Just stopping by to say Hi. I know the last couple days have been tough......however the brotherhood will do all it can to help you through. Keep your head held high.......we need kind, caring, compassionate providers like you in the field.
Going back long time, lost a very very good partner when I was in the service. Not exactly the same situation, but I know what you feel nonetheless.

Hey girl! Well when they can make up their mind I guess I will be going to Topeka. They keep putting me off and truthfully if something doesn't happen real soon I am going to give up and find something else. First it was after speedway, then the end of Oct, then the first of Nov...well here we are half way through Nov and nothing..LOL..Oh well, they must not think they need help that bad..Call me...
Yes, I have talked to Ken about coming there part time. He tells me "sure, we'd love to have you and need the help" and tells me to talk to Ray. I have done that. He told me in the middle of Oct that he would get a couple of us there for orientation at the end of Oct or beginning of Nov.......hasn't happened and I have not heard another word. I am more than willing and really want to pull shifts there, just want to know when...I am getting frustrated
no, sorry...I didn't know him, but my supervisor at the company I work at posted a bulletin on MySpace about it...it's pretty sad, though; no matter if it's a ff, medic, or a cop, we (even those of us that aren't yet, students etc.) feel like a piece of us is missing, because a family member has died.
Everything is going great, I can't wait for the baby to be born, these last seven months have flew by. I cant say much for you having to work at Osage that is just vacation from Topeka. I think that I would rather work in Osage.
