Why I Love Fire/EMS
I LOVE to help people-being a mother, there's something built in me that I just HAVE to help..
I'm going to be taking the CPAT in about 3 months-can someone get me their input about what happens (yes, I've read the info booklet), but I want someone to tell me what I can expect..
Welcome to the Firefighter Nation. In addition to the relatively cool videos and fire scene photos, there are numerous groups, discussions and chat available.
If you have never had the opportunity, take a minute to explore firefighterclosecalls.com and the secret list. This is a wonderful web site to explore and learn from the mistakes of others. It is also, sadly, a roll call of those whom have made the ultimate sacrifice, in their service to their communities.
We have all joined the Public Safety Community for a variety of our personal reasons. Some of us are paid, while others volunteer. Many are firefighters, while others enjoy the EMS side of the house. We have active firefighters, line officers, chiefs, administrative officers, and a number of old timers who have seen most of the mistakes already made at least once. We have firefighters with many many years of experience, and others that, well, don’t. All are welcome here in The Nation. We welcome your input, just as we hope that you learn from the experiences of others.
Personally, I have 31 years service to the local fire department. I have held most line officer positions, and some administrative as well. Now part of the Old Guard so to speak, I am less inclined to go charging into where others are trying to escape. Instead, I choose to monitor the fire scene closely, attempting to ensure the safety of all on the fire scene.
I welcome you to the FFN. Here we all share one common goal.....
OF COURSE I DID-MY FAMILY WOULD BEAT ME IF I DIDN'T!!!! hahaha.. My family is Irish and we are kind of like the "Grizwalds" when it comes to St. Patties Day!!!! But we do a week-yeah i know-weird huh? hahaha what did you do?
I have to take mine and wanted to "hear" from others who have gone threw it and what it was like..
My ladder pull, forcible entry, hydrant work, ladder climb and a few others are pretty good. Just don't want any surprises-you know... If there is such a thing-lol.
I need to take my CPAT and was wondering what to expect? I did my ladder pull and did it in 10-something and was told that was pretty good.? What else should I know about? Any "tricks" or the best way to handle things? Thanks for all your help..
Donna
hello Bean, one of my former chiefs use to be on Hope Mills...Meril Nallor as well as Firefighter Terence Shumate both were at Newton Fire in Catawba County as was I. Just wanted to say welcome and stay safe.
Just go to my page and you can find all of my videos. I think there is five. Some funnier than others. You are from Fayett-nam??? That was my first assignment when I was in the army. I had a good time there even though there wasn't much to do. I was there for like three and a half years before moving on.
