The last two departments i tried to join was rockhall vol. fire department, in rockhall maryland. And the last one was aberdeen vol. fore department in aberdeen maryland, i couldnt join those cause i had to move, but i have strong hopes about the department i'm with.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS
It's been a dream of mine as a child to become a fire fighter.
Back when i was a kid i could remember helping people as much as i could, and the best thing i could think of to help people was becoming a fire fighter, and here i am, fullfilling my dream for as long as i can.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
Being able to help people, and knowing that i can make a diffrence in my comunity.

    It's a deal! I was just working with a neighboring department, and they have piloted a new "mentoring" program where each probie is paired up with another firefighter who is supposed to "watch" after them, advise them etc... and since we don't have any probies @ my house now, I figured I'd take my talents to the internet and see if I can be of some help that way :-)

    Good good... lol. I really didn't have a "probie" nickname of sorts... all of my officers just used my last name (and most of them still do). Occasionally I'll get called "traitor", but that's only because I'm frequently leaving our firehouse's social events to go across town to hang out at my "sub-station" (where all my real friends are).

    Rookie and new girl floated around for a while, but since a lot of the older guys were around when my dad was an assistant chief, they took over the more "fatherly" role so I wasn't getting picked on so much.

    I know the majority of members here are of the Yank persuasion, and as with other forums I'll sometimes remember to translate as I write, but not always. After all, more people in the world use the metric system than use the old feet and inches stuff!
