About Me:
I wanted to be a fireman since high school as a volunteer, all my friends were doin it. I chose extracurricular activities instead like baseball, tennis, band, and work. After graduation I attended some college. I was going to go into Law Enforcement, but chose computer science instead. I couldn't see myself staring at a computer screen for hours everyday so I quit and joined the Marines. When I was done I needed a job, not many oppurtunities out in the real world for tank drivers. Anyway I started working at the State Highway Department on a road crew patching asphalt. One of my co-workers was a young man who was a volunteer. We talked about the FD and I joined Loris Fire Dept, and started class shortly afterwards. Once I was turned loose to run calls, we used to tell each other about the different calls we ran. He said that after a year I would be tired of it. Boy did I prove him wrong, I still work for the FD as a career fireman now instead of a volunteer, and I still volunteer at the City. Once it is in your blood you will never get it out.
Relationship Status:
Married
Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I joined the Fire Service because it was one of the things I always wanted to do since High School. Instead I joined the USMC and after getting done with that, I was looking for the same atmosphere. You know the commradiere, espirit de corps, brotherhood, and it seemed the fire dept was a closer family than the police dept. I was lucky and recieved the oppurtunity to work for HCFR and have been here ever since.
