I always wanted to be a firefighter and it kinda runs in the family,The fire chief who just retired in my town was family and my grandfather was a chief where he lives for a long time so im just keepin the fire dept going in my family. Besides all of that, I just love it,who wouldnt wanna go stormin outta a fire house in a big truck with lights and sirens to go play in fire...its got to be the biggest rush ever, not to mention i just like helping people...
Why I Love Fire/EMS
The feeling of knowing im helping people and still doing somthing that I love to do no matter how hard or dangerous it may be.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
I haven't been doing this very long but one major thing that I can see, or for my department and the area I live in is the opposition from civilians; many of them dont understand why we do what we do and that tends to cause issues at times. Something else that comes to mind is training and equipment; my department doesnt do a very good job of corridinating training days and equipment overview which is a vital part of this job becuase if you cant operate your equipment it makes you a risk and you dont need to be there bc thats how you get someone or yourself hurt. I cant speak for the fire department overall in the country though because I havent been doing this long enough to give a valid opinion.
