About Me:
My medic school class is the biggest group of dorks ever! (but i love em anyway!)
"Omg, wow girl you really are short! your height is a contraindication for a combitube!!!"
thanks guys, and fyi no I am NOT a midget... midget solely by height has to be 4'10" and I am 4'11" thank you much! and no I dont need a booster seat to drive the ambo or cruiser either..... booster seat is 4'9" lol :)
I absolutely LOVE emergency services.... there honestly hasnt ever been a time when i've freaked out on a scene, I just get in the zone and everything slows down.
I LOVE firehouse humor, even as a girl i think its absolutely hilarious, I will throw just as much crap right back at you guys as you throw at me and have a good time doing it!
I feel I owe something back to the community. I was a 26 weeker at birth with next to no chance to live and supposedly no chance for anything resembling quality of life. Now I am 21 years old, and have no limitations due to my early entrance into the world and stint on life support.
I eventually hope to be a joint flight medic/ police officer with the Fairfax County Police Department Aviation Division once I get my butt in shape!
Until I get my butt in shape I hope to be a dispatcher :)
Why I Love Fire/EMS
knowing I have made a difference in peoples lives
Top Issues Facing Responders:
having an adequate budget for proper equipment, training, and staffing -also-
having people that are actually both motivated and competent enough to do the work
That time does suck. Get back to the station and just get settled back in, and out you go again. You should come over some time and do a ride along. I run with DCVFD station 513, Prince William County.
you have a gift that you shouldn't let go to waste. Once you start writing, never stop, it's a wonderful outlet to the situations we all encounter in the fire/ems service. I have posted a few poems that I have written lately and I would enjoy reading more of your work too.
It's not that you have zero talent until a huge life change happens, it's that you don't look to your talent until a huge life changes comes about. The talent is always there, it's just not reallized until that time.
im close to roanoke,va and staunton,va if you know where those places are and yeah being in le and fd field is crazy i wonder sometimes lmao. be safe out there and keep in touch good luck on the emt-i im hopefully going to start mine.
Temperature around 6 degrees, at and 3 AM they get sent out on a search detail. One of my neighbors of all things (dementia pt) turned up missing. FD, Police, and EMS personnel searched the neighborhood and woods for 3 hours, before finding the gentlemen a few hundred yards away from his house. They had to limit the search crews to 15 minutes intervals, to keep them from becoming patients themselves.
Oh, I was stuck at work. My search dog slept the night through, even as helicopters hovered over my house searching with night goggles and infra red.
Thounsands of hours training the dog.......and I am at work when he is needed right at home. Go figure.
Well thank you for the add, so how are you doing tonight??? I'm tired...we had the MLK Parade downtown in the city...City Fire as well as County Fire and DOD Fire had a total of 30 personnel. 4 and engines and 4 chiefs....
I hate test...LOL I don't like typing much myself...LOL...Our dispatchers down here a bunch idiots lol....they can receive multiple calls on a house fire but will not tell us until after we get there...
Search dogs. A fantastic way to stay in shape. You spend part of your weekend being a victim, meaning you walk a couple hundred yards, up to a few miles, in the woods for a dog to find you. And, as you train your own dog, you start on nice short trails and work up to multiple mile tracks. Not to mention the nightly walks to keep that high strung search dog happy. Oh yes, a fantastic way to stay in shape!!!
I think they smoke pot sometimes...LOL..Nah...they're usually good about information except when they get the one idiot who doesn't think its a fire when it turns out to be a 2 story house w/ heavy fire from the roof...idiots!!!
You can go as far as your little heart desires.......so dream big.
I see someday soon you as being one of those rare breed.......the cop that can chase em down.....provide ALS when they inevitably get stupid.....jump on the bird and fly with the fine example of citizenry to the trauma center....and sit by their side until they recover, just so you can bust their sorry tails!
8.
They get to choose thier own spelling words, with the approval of the teacher. Guess I am a bad influecne, his last test had the words "mycardial infarction", "intubation", and "subcranial" as challenge words!! Those he gets...but then he will misspell words like "together".......go figure
