Other Past or Current Departments and Organizations
Retired member of Madison Twp FD in Adrian. It is where I started a long time ago.
My Training:
FF 1 & 2, EMT-S, HM OPS, Tech rescue, trench, bldg collapse, rope 1 & 2, Michigan fire training instructor, my gosh - lots of other stuff
About Me:
My dad was a FF, and the 5 of us brothers all have been or are still FF's. I love it, POC at Madison was great, but full time has been better yet. When I get down, I remind myself of the not-so-great jobs I used to have.
I grew up around it, it was just what I have always wanted to do
Why I Love Fire/EMS
trying to do my best on someone's worst day
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Safe and smart operations. That means: good and worthy officers, leadership, training, smart and safe FF's, enough staffing no matter how you get it, settle for nothing less.
Had a pretty cool night. We had the Stanley Cup in town for a hockey game. They took it around town to show it off and ended up at our house. I got several pictures with it and we didn't even have to fight a crowd. The background pic is with my helmet.
Not sure if you saw the news over here but PG County had to stop the ride-a-long program.
They burnt som kid, I think in a prank.
At least you had the opportunuty.
Stay safe

I don't even necessarily know that it has to be a mandated thing, but if everyone who is concerned about their fellow firefighters and their level of fitness were to do one thing, just one thing (replace the soda w/ Vitamin Water, offer nutrition bars alongside the donuts, put together a group to lift weights together or organize a department run every week) then perhaps a sea change could take place.
LOVE the Foo Fighters....who knew Dave Grohl would be the post-Nirvana breakout musician? I missed their show in Glens Falls, I was on the road doing trainings for FASNY.
Yeah I'm in the Fire class from CFD. Some guys from my department told me to make a Profile on here i'm still trying to figure it out lol. Are you instructing any other Classes?
Hi Jeff,
I am about 1/2 hour north of York. Did a lot of my FF II classes there. I know a few of the guys. Went to the parade in August. Probably saw you there.
Stay safe,
Deb
Jeff,
Thanks for the invite. I facilitate a program for the NFFF called "Taking Care of Our Own". In January I will be doing a class in Sterling Heights, MI. I don't know if you are near there. I think the dates are the 15th & 16th. Take Care and keep caring.
Jeff,
Regarding your post on my Training Wants and Needs discussion...
a.) I try not to listen to the voices in my head...they tell me to play with sharp shiny things.
b.) If not RIT...then what is it DO you guys want? Tell me how to do my job better and offer the kind of training programs that are needed.
Hi Jeff,
Thanks for your comments---I'll take those to the Training and Education committee and give them something to chew on.
If you have any other ideas, feel free to share them. I'll email you my work email address, you can send to me there.
Thanks for your time and attention on this, it's appreciated~

My husband and I met at a brushfire, actually. It's really great having a significant other involved in the same things I am.
