Why I Joined Fire/EMS
When I was growing up my neighbor owned an ambulance service, so I literally grew up around it. It only seemed natural that when I became certified as an EMT at 16 that I would go to work for that same company. Then at age 20 I became the third NREMT-P to practice in our county. Now 15 years later his service is closed and he has passed away but I now manage a local service and continue to practice as a medic.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
This is what I've wanted to do since I was a kid, I'm living my dream here.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Lack of respect between competitive agencies and their providers. Erroneous denials by CMS and private insurers for medically necessary services resulting in budget cutbacks and as an end result lower standards of care for our patients.
