My Training:
Firefighter I & II, HAZ-MAT Awareness & Operations, Trench Rescue, NIMS/ICS, Auto Extrication, NREMT-Basic
About Me:
What got me interested in Fire and EMS Service was my past job as a police/fire dispatcher. I dispatched for Mt. Pleasant Police Dept for 4 1/2 years from February 2001 to June 2005, then I went to work for Franklin County Sheriff's Office as a dispatcher from June 2005 to August 2006. Prior to leaving MPPD I joined the Mt Pleasant Fire Department, a combination department, as a volunteer in the summer of 2004. My capacity with the department was as support personnel since I had no fire training. While working from FCSO I enrolled in the Northeast Texas Community College Fire Academy which was taught by several members of the Mt Pleasant FD. Our academy was a night class that spanned over 11 months from January to November 2006. I completed the academy as valedictorian of my class. At this time I became a structural fire fighter for MPFD. I then enrolled in the NTCC EMT Basic course to complete my fire certification. In May 2007 I finished my EMT Basic training and passed my National Registry test. In August 2007 I was hired by Champion EMS and now work on a 24 hour truck in Lone Star Texas, although I work a bunch of extra shifts in other stations as well. I am currently looking for a full time job with a Fire Department since that is truly where my heart is.
