About Me:
I've been involved with the Emergency Services for about 18 years now between NJ & PA, just completed Firefighter II certification. I actually should be dead for the actions I have taken in a fire. They were not the smartest thing I did. Now, I still fight aggressively, but with more knowledge of my surroundings & the telltale signs of problems. I will never put or ask anyone to go into a situation that I wouldn't do.
Day Job:
Medical Claims Processor

Why I Joined Fire/EMS
When I was about 2 years old, I had to have my eyes operated on to strengthen the muscles. When I returned home from the hospital, my cousin who was a career firefighter with PAFD drove the brand new Snorkel 1 to my house for me to see. That put the spark in me. When my father was diagnosed with cancer 20 years ago, I wanted to do all I could for him. I first joined a rescue squad, then a second one & eventually joined the fire department. Since then, I have dedicated my life to saving others.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
being in the right place at the right time to help someone who needs it.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
recruiting & retaining serious volunteers. I also believe that alcohol does not have a place in the station nor on scene. We all like to party & have a good time, but why put yourself or someone else in harm's way while under the influence. let's use some common sense out there!

Hey thanks for the encouragement! Im gonna try. Things look grim right now, judging by my MRIs and XRays, but anything is possible. If nothing else, maybe I can go over to the "dark side" (law enforcement) lol. Anyway, Ive already been temporarily assigned as a Division Chief's aide until everything is conclusive and permanent.

Thanks Joe! She IS a beauty! Her hoses are black with silver lettering also her salvage covers. Chief wants to paint all the apparatus in these colours AND switch to black gear with silver reflective striping. He already switched our station shirts to gray with black trim at the neck and sleeves. He's kinda gone black and silver happy... LOL

Thanks for the welcome! I'm working now but so far things have been quiet. Let's hope it stays that way cuz I'm leaving in the morning to take a friend back home to TN--just going up there and turning right back around and coming home. Gotta get ready for the little weather disturbance that's out in the Gulf. I hope it doesn't come visit us--although we could use some rain. Be careful and stay safe.
