About Me:

I joined the Highway 58 Vol Fire Deparment in late 2003 just before I graduated high school. I began as a firefighter and sense have become an extrication tech, and most recently a first responder (hopefully EMT soon).

Why I Joined Fire/EMS

I became a firefighter because I wanted to help people and ofcourse I love dooing it!

Helping people and the adrenaline rush, ofcourse.

Top Issues Facing Responders:

Well for most volunteer departments it is that most people look at your department as a joke and don't consider you a "real" firefighter, I live close to Chattanooga, TN and our academy takes place in the same facilty as the city. The same curriculim is tought minus the EMT basic that the PAID city recruits go through, so I've never understood how some one can say a volunteer is not a "real" firefighter.
