    In PORTUGAL we have traffic controllers on the ground for these. I just ask the central dispatch by helicopter. NOTHING else. THEY dealing with the rest.

    Thanks for the invitation Chief ,when we ask for medivac it's touch and go ,we don't have many helicopters available. Usually the ambulance personnel have more luck getting them. Non the less I look forward to learning more from your members on this site.

    Thanks for the invite Chief. We usually set up the LZ for EMS here. EMS tells us where they are and coordinate with the helicopter and then we go and mark it out and provide lighting and clear it of debris before they land. We also assist with manpower and anything else that may be required.

    It is tough getting a chopper up here sometimes especially when there is bad weather between here and the closest base.

    in South Africa there is so much time wasted in trying to despatch a chopper with all the red tape, most of the time its quicker just to load the patient, intubate and treat on route in the back of the ambulance. most of the chopper services are private so they dont like to fly patients you dont have medical aid!!!

    Thanks for the invite. In Maine we have Lifeflight who has two hospital based helos. Every now and then NH's DART will come over to assist.
    I have done some training with them and they are a good bunch!
