Small Town Firefighter's

You know who you are the one's in the town's that nobody has heard of. In my case its Knotts Island N.C.

IamResponding App: Who uses it?

I was just curious as to who uses the IamResponding app for their department. What do you like/dislike about it?

My department uses it and we like it overall. The nice things are being able to get pages over your phone (I work out of reach of my pager) so I can still see the calls and my chief can send out a message to leave work if the call warrants it. Mapping feature is nice since I am new to the area it helps me find the house easier. Plus hydrant and building mapping is nice also.

Bad part is messages can take a little while and be strange if dispatch does not give enough info.

example message was "Ambulance/animal" turns out call was for a dog falling through the ice (yes dog is all right)

overall it is nice just everyone needs to respond/use the system when they are going to respond to the station

good to hear it. the only thing i dont like about it is that the mapping stinks on my phone because it uses my current location via my wifi which usually puts my location as the next town over. though overall i do really like the app

Neighboring Sept just started using it and they often get the message on the app before the page which is nice. The mapping issue can normally be resolved by contacting the apps techs who often will just need to do an update as they had the same issue as you. It also gives you messages from the department for training etc. My department got it as well and we are in the set up phase right now. I'll let you know more when I get to play with it
