changes in the smoke and heat conditions.use your natural instincts your body can tell you alot.hope if you miss something on the inside someone is watching your back from the outside to give you a warning. Be Safe And All Come home.
Sometimes you can feel when things are wrong. Like if my partner drops the hose line and bolts for the door, I'd get the feeling that I might need to leave as well. Seriously, though, if you can master "tunnel vision" you can pay attention to all of the signs that you are someplace you ought not to be anymore. Ignorance may be bliss, but not inside a burning building.
Your gut. The smallest ounce of gut. When you see something that just makes you think, ugh should I stay or go? GO! If you are wrong, get back in and fight. If you are right, then you saved time, by acting quick. Just consider the situation, and make sure you are following your training. 2IN, 2OUT, keeping a charged line, have hand tools for minor obstructions. All of these things will keep you alive to continue to do what the community needs you to do.
