hello evryone, i just joined this group. i currently run a 2001 jeep cherokee sport 4x4 with a vista strobe bar. i also have a code3 rls siren and light controller. it also has a motorola cm300 high band mobile radio. its tricky to install lights in this due to the config. of the vechile. i cannot install a console due to the factory console and gear shift being on te tranny hump. the next step is to have the jeep decaled with fire and rescue markings. i plan to have a few more mods in the near future. in ohio vols. can run just all red. your vechile has to be inspected once a year for saftey items. if it passes you are issued a decal to be put in the lower corner of the windshield.

  • Adam Verducci

question, Does anybody think that full light bars are overkill (on a ford f-250)? I am thinking about getting one but people tell me ill get a lot of crap for having it. Just you opinion on full lightbars would be nice. thanks
  • The Irons

Well If it were up to me I wouldn't buy a lightbar. I would take the money that you were going to spend on the bar and put it into blinging up your winshield by putting some whelen talons in and putting a far amount of light into your grille. I find the lightbars are a little over rated.
  • Adam Verducci

Another question. Does anybody use (or know someone who does) SpeedTech lights. They have cheep prices but i don't know how good their quality is.
  • Bryan Scott Lowery

    My Pov...

  • Christian Hancock

im looking for some good but not to expensive leds for my car im a new volunteer and just getting started so i can use all the help i can get and if anyone knows the light ordence i NC that would help alot
  • Matthew Robertson

Christian; I'm sure you've found the answer to your question, but I'll post something just in case. I was with a department for a little over two years in Union County, NC; back in 1999 - 2001. I had a red/clear strobe mounted over my rear-view mirror and one red flashing light on each side of my high center mount brake light (Crown Vic). There were never any issues and I was told that lights were ok, as long as they were red or red and clear to the front and red or red and amber to the rear; no blue lights anywhere on a POV unless you're a LEO. Also, no sirens in a POV. I know in SC, guys are allowed to use both, as are we here in NM with the county sheriffs permission.
  • Rachel

    Chris~

    Nice set-up!!
  • Firefighter95_pence

where is a good place to find lights for a good price online
  • Keith A. Morrone

New York v.n.t. states 1 blue light visible 360* but our local LEO's don't bother us as long as we obey traffic laws.
  • Mark Munroe

I am a collector of Old/Vintage Warning Lights from the 50's to early 80's anything off Apparatus, Police Cars, Tow Trucks, Ambulances, Etc.  Federal Signal, Mars, Whelen, Code 3, Deitz, Etc. Send me a photo of what you have and how much your asking for them.

  • Ron Briggs

Nice truck Firefighter Chris. I like how you have it lit like that.

  • Ron Briggs

Here is my personal vehicle while on the scene of a structure fire in Jan. 2012. I have a Chevy suburban AWD (All Wheel Drive). Since I am just the dept photographer I am not allowed to run reds (Chief says no) but since I am a storm spotter I am equipped with ambers. I have an Amber Whelen L21LAV beacon (vac-mag mount) for on top, 2 Whelen SpecTir 8 in Amber in the front window, and a Whelen Dual Avenger in Amber in the back window.

The Fire Chief's new car is behind my vehicle (he just got it stipped late last month) and the Fire Inspector SUV is in front of my vehicle. Since the chief and inspector weren't there yet when I got there, I put one of my cones out so my vehicle wouldn't get hit. Minutes later the pd shut the road down so LDH could be layed to the hydrant across the road on the corner.
