HI, my husband has been a fireman for almost two years now, he joined shortly after we were married. currently he is a volunteer but will be testing for a full time position very soon. I understand everyones worries as I have the same concerns. I know it sounds silly but everytime my husband goes out on a call i make him promise me before he leaves he will return the same way he left... i know one day he may not be able to keep that promise but i also know he will do everything he can to be safe and come home. I have just started get involved in the fire "scene" and i have joined the support staff for our dept. if your spouses station or county doesnt have a support staff maybe you should see about starting one. all the wives and husbands, boyfriends and girlfriends are welcome to join, we have monthly meetings and plan things from outtings to parties, we help with the training by bringing food and drinks, it really makes you feel better being apart of their world. glad to be apart of this group and look forward to future discussions.

I am a wife that started the site because I couldn't find anything solely dedicated to the women behind the heroes...please come help me! :)

Good Afternoon everyone! I am a firefighters "soon to be wife" but have been together for almost 7 years now. I have been around the fire service all my life, but never knew how hard it would to be the wive of a firemen. My fiance had a bad accident a few years back, and almost lost his life. Its been hard to get over to this day, but its nice to know that there are others out there that know what your going through. I still cringe everytime i hear his pager go off, and when i dont get that phone call from him for hours. I look forward to being a part of this group!!
