Hi everyone. My husband became a volunteer firefighter 11 years ago and was hired on 3 and a half now. I've lived both lives now and wow what a ride!

Hello ! I am Ashley, my husband Eric, just last week was sworn into the fire dept, after years of test and pysicals, and now he is in a 14 week long academy training, and I am just freaking out! This is all so new to me and I am afraid of what it is going to be like to have him leaving us, everyday few days to do such a scary job. I am just afraid for our family. He is our life and without him I dont know what we would do. I need the support and I found all of you and I hope to get some insight and understanding !

This passed weekend we had a training going into a burning building,I couldn't do it if my Sweetie(husband Norm) was not there with me. He's big in the Fir Dept. and I'm very proud of him.

Tonya I completely understand what your saying. My fiance is Asst. Chief of one dept. and a firefighter on another dept. I'm also a firefighter on both depts. We both work in EMS as well. I hardly have any time with just him. The majority of the time we do get to spend together I'm having to compete with the depts and other firefighters for his attention. It's really stressful at times. Wish it was easier but it's not.

Hi everyone! I'm Amanda. My fiance, James, has always had a dream of being a firefighter (he's talked about it for as long as I can remember) and he is now taking the steps to pursue his dream. He starts training at his small town's volunteer fire dept tomorrow and will be starting Fire Academy in 6 months. The thought of him risking his life scares the living crap out of me, but I know that I have to support him 100% and I have every intent to. We are still extremely young (I will be 18 in 2 months and he just turned 20 in October) and have a beautiful baby girl together and I honestly can't let the thought of her growing up without a father pass through my head. It's almost unbearable! I love meeting new people and so let's talk! :)
