You can take out the exhaust valve because it is replaceable. The most common cause is lack of cleaning or incorrect cleaning.

Its why I like having my own mask and being responsible for its cleaning.

Your not the only one that this has had this happened to yes not keeping up with in house maintenance annual flow testing get hold of a survive air service rep make sure there is no bulletins or recalls out on this GOOD LUCK
