Tornado preparedness, What does your department do?

What does your dept. do to get ready for springtime weather related emergencies??

We have the national weather service come down to our station and put on an advanced storm spotters class and we review our SOG's on staging the trucks out of harms way and able to respond to calls throughout the district.

We go on stand by and make sure were ready when the calls start coming, we also have the weather siren we can sound. The last tornado we had was is 03, up until the I didn't think Tennessee had them.

Thanks to everyone for replying sofar, I find it very interesting to see how different areas of the country prepare for weather related emergencies. We do alot of the same things as mentioned in the replies, but I have picked up on some great things to add to our preparedness. We don't get tons of tornados, like our midwestern friends, but we do have them every year. We do get alot of minor flooding, and that always curtails basement pump details, or slowing traffic for water on the roadway, and we always have plenty of trees blocking roadways, that we end up cutting to clear the roads. Sharp chainsaw chains, and pretesting all of our trash pumps, are just a couple things we do to prepare.
