below is a letter that I was asked to write for English about what I will
be doing after I graduate, and also about how I got where I am today.(this is an informal essay)
I have been getting some questions about what career path I will be
fallowing in the fall, and most people are shocked to learn I will not
be going directly to college. In September I will be starting a program
through the state to be an NYS Certified Emergency Medical Technician.
Directly fallowing that I will be enrolling in NYS Firefighter I, these
will provide me with an edge in the fire and EMS service for up to 6
years (Including re-certifications of course) After that I may go to
school for nursing (RN). That will probably be that path I take the next
5-10 years, and also if I have enough time after that I would love to
get my Paramedic/Advance Life Support degree... Now some people may be
wondering "What about computers, I thought you were going to school for
that?" I just got word that I am receiving a basic Microsoft NT
Certification through my vocational school; the only way I obtained this
was my teacher submitted an application for advance IST/NT students,
and I qualified! So at the end of June I will have NOCTI Certification
and Microsoft basic NT (I think) certification. So theoretically I could
get a job as a tech right now.
Over the past 7 years I have made a strong name for myself in the
local bowling community; holding one state title, and 3 regional high
school titles. I have also made a name for myself being the type of guy
that would give the shirt off my back for a friend in need, and it is
said that is what makes me a good service member. Just a couple of days
ago I handed in my youth bowling career, exchanging it for my adult
career. During the last day of my Saturday morning league one of my
coaches that I have had since I was in junior went on the approach with a
microphone and gave a 5 minute speech about me, my accomplishments and
my service. Let me just say I will never forget his words. I will miss
youth bowling, but there come a time when growing up is inevitable. And
now I am open to a new world of possibilities
I would like to thank everyone whom I have crossed paths with in the
last 7 or so years; It is because of the knowledge and kindness of the
people whom surround me that I have become the person I am today.
Whether it is people on forums, coaches, chiefs or EMTs, each
person has had a hand at making who I am today, and for that I am
eternally grateful.
