Hi guys im trying to right a 6 page paper of the history of the fire service.  Ive tried using google but its just shoveling me a bunch of crap.  So help me out put in your two cents on the history of the service and maybe some sites to check out

Hey there John, try this one out www.firehistory.org it's got some pretty good stuff here. Everything from St. Florian, the Maltese Cross, Dalmatians and the fire marks too. Good luck to you.

Try going to the library and doing some book research. anything you read on-line will be abridged and without context.

In many european countries St. Florian is their saint and protector (for firefighters).
In Italy and France (for this I'm sure) is St. Barbara.

In european fire brigades, most used simbols for patches and official crests,labels...are torches,axes,nozzles,ladders, helmets.. rarely maltese cross. Examples.
