 ccreditation International will present the CFAI Basic Workshop Series
  in Nashville, TN on April 21-23, 2009.\n\nSelf-Assessment and Standar
 ds of Cover Workshop\nThe CFAI Basic Workshop Series includes the 16-h
 our Self-Assessment Workshop and the 8-hour Standards of Cover (SOC) W
 orkshop. This series assists fire and emergency service leaders in pre
 paring for and working towards accreditation through the unique model 
 of self-assessment. This workshop will not only provide valuable infor
 mation on conducting an agency self-assessment but also on how to prep
 are for an on-site peer assessment visit. The series also equips fire 
 service personnel with the fundamental know-how to rationally plan for
  and justify varying levels of service based upon identifying communit
 y hazards and risk. Through an overview of resource deployment plannin
 g and community risk analysis, this workshop covers the latest tools t
 o calculate and analyze risk as well as the latest processes to map de
 ployment and deployment coverage areas – such as Geographic Informat
 ion Systems (GIS) software packages.\nStudents will learn:\n The be
 nefits of self-assessment and ultimately accreditation;\n Defining 
 the planning requirements for self-assessment;\n Preparing for a se
 lf-assessment;\n Review of the self-assessment process and performa
 nce activities utilized in defining the process;\n Conducting a suc
 cessful self-assessment; and\n Preparing for an on-site peer evalua
 tion.\n An overview of a process that allows an agency to determine
  their level of service performance in a consistent manner;\n Revie
 wing the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) definit
 ion of the planning requirements to be considered when participating i
 n the self-assessment process;\n Defining methods an agency can use
  to determine the levels of service regarding its responsibilities and
  risks; and\n Defining methods of developing a Standards of Respons
 e Coverage.\n\nEach student will receive workshop participant manuals 
 for each course, the Fire and Emergency Service Self-Assessment 7th Ed
 ition Manual, and the CFAI Standards of Cover, 5th Edition Manual.\n\n
