Hi April, I don't know the history behind your question, however; there can be no doubt that when responding to an incident, any incident, everyone on the rig MUST be fully qualified and capable of doing the assigned job. Everyone on the scene is depending on that! Needless to say, a person in a cast does not meet that criteria. Thanks for your participation.
only to get equipment at the scene
as in general. doesnt a cast mean they can still help out. an exterior firefighter would do the same thing without a cast or with.
Has the person in question been medically cleared by thier doctor to return to active duty?
they did not get a note saying they were restricted and was told that the cast was bc they couldnt do anything
Not a whole lot of information to go by, but if said person is in a cast be it arm or leg they are taking on a big liability to themselves and the department , pain meds, re-injuring the fracture etc, I say no they cannot respond to calls until the cast is off and cleared by the doctor .
arm and yah big liability

A friend of mine broke his arm during training and a couple weeks later when he still had the cast we got toned for a structure fire and he drove the engine to the scene and pumped it the whole time. It just killed him to not get to make entry. That was a pretty good fire, my first actually. I was at the station doing ff cert class that day.

Way to much of a liability and dangerous for everybody involved.  Just my .02
