i hate to bring up this subject but something like this has not happened to me in over 20 years. i went to a fire in a strip mall. the fire looked good on dispatch and it quickly went to a second alarm. upon my arrival i was confronted by a law enforcement officer who immidiatly informed me that i "could not take pictures of the fire". i asked why and she asked me for my ID. i gave it up and she asked me why i wanted to take a picture of a fire? i said to document the activities of the fire department for future study and education. she said i had to remain in a certain area which i did. she ran my name and took my persoanal information and left me. later at another area she remeinded me to remain where she told me to or i would be arrested for obstruction. i understand she has a job to do and i complied, but isnt being told that "i cannot take pictures" a violation of my constituntinal right? (if so which one?)...this encounter was complete BS and i will be posting a question in the main area

Behind closed doors, IFPA members have been working on a new interactive site. Those doors were opened today and the new interactive site is open to the public. The site is http://ifpaweb.ning.com. The original site at www.ifpaweb.org is still operational. This new site is designed to supplement the original site.

This new site now allows IFPA members to upload and share photos in one location. Members are also able to make blog posts of recent news and participate in an online forum. This email group will still be available. Other content available includes membership benefits and levels, the IFPA store, Journal subscriptions/issues, "Find a Photographer" service and our new Featured Member. The 2009 Photo Contest rules are also now available however the contest doesn't open until May 1.

So stop by and take a look around. If you are not yet a fully paid member in good standing with IFPA, I urge you to consider so that you are able to access all of the content on the site.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you.
