Hi Jessica,

recommended courses. Please pass this along to your Chief, Safety and training officers.
Note the following courses offer blended learning, online and hands on components. They can either be taken together or separately. For hands on, your department must schedule for training and is offered through out the country. All of them are excellent training opportunities.

Hi Jessica,

You were given erroneous information. The correct link is the FEMA Emergency Management Institute, where you can take free online courses for ICS and NIMS, among several other course offerings. Upon viewing the entire online course and successfully passing an online test , it will generate a certificate of completion. It may take awhile, but you can then print a copy of it to submit for your records.

https://training.fema.gov/is/

All members need to take;

IS-100.b Introduction to Incident Command System, ICS-100

IS-700.a National Incident Management System (NIMS) An Introduction

Line Officers also must take;

IS-200.b ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents

IS-800.b National Response Framework, An Introduction

Notice: Independent Study Exams now require a FEMA Student Identification (SID) Number. If you do not yet have a SID, register at: https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid

Take care and stay safe!
