We asked our Facebook and Twitter followers what their shift did for breakfast, does your crew cook or is it just coffee and the paper? Here are some of the replies.

"Weekend days we cooked breakfast. Otherwise just coffee."

"My Lt is a devout southern breakfast believer, and we love being on his shift."

"My crew does "Dollar Breakfast" during the week. Every morning if you eat you throw a dollar in the breakfast kitty. That gets you 2 eggs, 2 sausages and 2 pieces of toast. When we run out of something we take the kitty money to replace it. Saturdays all companies sit down and eat at the local Chik Fil A buffet, and Sunday we cook a massive breakfast."

"As far as breakfast I've only seen coffee and the paper."

"We cook a shift breakfast on weekends and holidays Otherwise it's on your own during shift line up."

"Breakfast is not done on shift.shift starts7.duties start730. If you want breakfast you need to get it at home or on way to work."

"A fruit smoothie on my way in, then a couple hard boiled eggs."

What does your shift do?

Most of our fire houses cook three meals/day.  It's hard to cook when you're running 20 runs/tour but we always try.  We are very traditional.
