I am going to be starting the trainingdivision.com fire academy soon, the program is based on the Fundamentals of Firefighter Skills 2nd ed. I phoned on Friday to confirm that they are still using the 2nd edition, and they are. The 3rd edition of Fundamentals of Firefighting Skills is now available. I was wondering if anyone thinks it would be an issue using the 3rd edition for the program that is based on the 2nd. I would rather purchase the new updated edition, but don't want it to be a hindrance for completing the program. Thanks.

I would use the textbook they utilized to write the training program.

Agreed. Use whatever the trainingdivision.com guys recommend. It's good to have the latest edition but the difference is not going to affect your certification.

I ran into a similar problem when I took hazmat awareness for firefighter 2 in my first year on. The class was taught using one edition and the test was with another. Only two people passed the test and they both had 10 plus years.Stick with the edition it calls for.

Makes me wonder if I should get both.

Might not be a bad idea especially if you can borrow one from somebody.
