Asking for help from our comunity. 'Ruby' one of our Pink Heals trucks is a '77 WLF pumper with a standard tranni, that is now stuck in 3rd. We contacted WLF several times to ask for advise on how to switch her over to a automatic transmision, or just a lead on WHO would be able to do something like this...to no avail. We're coming to ya'll for suggestions and ideas with what to do. Ruby was dedicated last year in memory of a close friend of the Fire Service that we lost to cancer. She has made GREAT strides in breast cancer awareness and brightening the hearts of many who suffer, young AND old. We think it would be a tragedy to 'put her down' at this point. Please help!!!!

Where is it located now?
Considering lots of folks see these posts, you should be specific as to where the rig is located and you fire station contact information to make it easier for someone to help you out, or at least direct help in your direction. I hope you find out some answers from some of the more mechanically inclined folks here on the FFN. Best of luck you and your project!

This Eng. is in Savannah Ga. She has been the primary Eng. that this chapter of Pink Heals has been using to support cancer patients. She is a '77 WLF with tranni and linkage problems and is currently stuck in 3rd. We've tryed al biet unsuccessfully to get advise directly from WLF and are now hoping SOMEONE has exp. with these Eng's. I'm out in Albuquerque so all I can really do is relay info.But I will do whatever I can to help. I've never used FFN for a cause like this, so I didnt realize how information was deseminated. It may be possible to remove the transmission fill plug and go in with a tool and push the selector back into neutral.
I don't know the construction of this vehicle, but my years of experience with auto repair suggests that it's worth a try. I've saved a few cars by this method.

Any heavy truck mechanic should be able to work on it. Most of those transmissions were either Spicer or New Process.
Call the local ford dealership or big truck repair shop they should be able to help, since it is a chassis issue not the pump or body.
Yeah..we had a mech. take a look at it last night. Its a clutch and a pressure plate. Thanks Bill!!! Ya'll be safe. Thank You ALLL!!!!!
