John:
I have already posted on your forum on PPE but the old marbles started to roll around afterwards. Sperian is what used to be called Securitex and around 2003-04 they made a light weight turnout gear. A couple of Carer Departments that I know of (Albany, NY and Nashua N.H.) ended up dumping them because of problems. I also talked to a fellow FF who happens to sell Sperian gear here in NY and while they admit to problems in the past, they claim that those problems have been solved. and the Sperian gear will hold up against gear of the same standard.
Something else for you to think about is that believe it or not all of the manufacturers of turn out gear get their material from about the same three material vendors. You might remember around 2004-05 all the manufacturers were having problems getting Kevlar, because the U.S. Military was claiming rights too it under national security needs. So all things being equal I would say it should come down to fit and price.
Still about sixty days out....hopefully in time for FDIC rollout.
Will you be at FDIC? Also, you should consider getting involved w the ISFSI...
We should talk some time on our mutual efforts and get them aligned for support....
