This is the fire that you thought you would never make it home because every muscle in your body felt like it had been torn and the heat melted your helmet and you thought you were a new york firefighter because your new gear was now black

we just caught a big one on sept 5 where 19 units responded from 3 different counties and one from another state

Biggest fire for me was a field fire. I didn't catch the intital dispatch but we were punched out for an engine cover. We were called into the scene and as we going down the road engines were fighting fire along the RR tracks for a couple of miles. We got moved around a couple of times until the last time we got off the engine and an engine from a southern county was sitting there....21 companies from New Castle County DE, 6 Salem County NJ, 5 Cecil County MD, 4 Kent County DE 8 Delaware and Chester Counties PA. I knew things were bad when they called Robert Fulton from Lancaster County PA to cover a station that was I think 10th due on this fire. RF had to travel at least 45 minutes.

We had a ship fire and a 10 story building that were big but didn't require that many companies.
