Pennsylvania State Trooper Shot and Killed
Trooper Paul Richie of the Pennsylvania State Police was shoot and killed in Venago County,Cranberry Twp.He was responding to a domestic violence call.He stepped out of the vehicle and was shoot and killed.My prayer go out to his wife and 2 children.

i was there for 8 hours but we did have over 100 law enforcement officers from a 100 mile area and they worked with us just like we were one of them... they have my upmost respect. and i worked mva's with trooper ritchey a number of times. the man that did it should not have gotten his guns back when he was arrested for stalking in 1998. he took a gun to his wifes work and threanted her. but the system just gave him probation.. then let him off early and gave his guns to him

I meet him when I was a Deputy Sheriff in Venago County.He was a very good Trooper.

The whole situation was sad. Being in Northern Venango county, there are a few troopers we regularly work with, and I am pretty sure he has been at a couple of ours. I was at work inside the kmart on rt 8 when it happened. Not a lot of people ventured out. My cousin was a public safety officer in michigan and he was shot and killed in December of 1994. That night, all of our lives changed and have really never been the same since. My family's thoughts and prayers are with Trp. Ritchey family
