Brandon, your calls are going to vary by the type of base you end up being assigned to. I was at a MAC(now Air Mobility Command) base. We had it all. Air, structural, vehicle. If you end up at a base like Vandeberg, you can expect some wildland/urban interface fires. When I was AD, it was before EMS became a large part of the fire service. I do not know if that will be a large part of your job now. And congrats- enjoy

hi, My name is Brandon i am currently in the DEP. I booked a job as a firefighter and am curious what life is like of an active duty Air Force Firefighter. I am already a Volunteer firefighter but i was wondering what kind of calls i can expect to respond to while active.

Did 5yrs as an S.P. and couldn't get a cross train to Firefighter, so I got out and went into the reserves with a cross train to firefighter. Did 3yrs as a reservist at Peterson AFB, tried to go back active as a f.f. {'86} but the AirFarce said they had to many. Ended up joining the U.S. Coast Guard to build up the retirement, retired at 43 and have been an ARFF firefighter for NASA for the past 6yrs. Funny how life comes full circle.
