Hey T.J., my department also uses Amkus. I'm not sure why we got it originally but I'm glad we did. It is pretty comparible in weight to other stuff ive used but i really like the way that you control it and it seems pretty damn tough compared to other stuff
Thank You Joe
Hurst all the way! Actually, I only say that because that's all I have experience with. We've only used Hurst tools here. Stay safe!
We have TNT tools. We really like them ALOT. Other depts around us have had them for a long time, and have nothing but great things to say about them and their service.
we use amkus that was the set i found when we started looking it was a used set has done a great job for us we have cut out 9 people out and recovered 2 others
Bull can you explain a little more on what TNT is or a website for them, never heard of them before and I'd like to check into them. Thanks:)
TJ...the website is www.tntrescue.com They have really excellent tools and a great price. They are warrentied for life.
We have Hurst tools. Mainly because the only paid department in our county has Hurst tools also. I really like them.
Thanks a lot Bull, I'll be sure to look into them:)
Good topic;
We cover some 20 miles of interstate, we carry 2 full sets and 1 electric combi. As I sit here this morning I can't for the life of me remember the brand of the orginal set, but were sued be Amkus because they were a look-a-like, they were great tools and are still used today, 18 years later. Our front line set is Geneses(may be spelled wrong) we went with them because at the time they were the only ones that would cut the new stuff, boron and multi-layered A and B posts. I believe others do now. So far so good, it's a bit of an ajustment to the 2 stage pumps, guy's don't wait for the slower 2nd stage to kick in, that's where it builds power.
At my Volunteer Dept we have a full set of Amkus Rescue equipment. We bought them used about 10 years ago and they are still doing the job great! At wrok we have 3 new set of Res-Q tec. and they are also great. In my opinion what matters is how you treat your tools. Take care of your equipment and it will take care of you.
