(HD/Close Up) 10/3/2011 - Magnablend Chemical Plant Fire - Waxahachie, TX

This massive fire began at the Magnablend Chemical Plant around 10:45 AM on October 3, 2011. Upon arrival, fire crews found heavy smoke along with another type of smoke that would turn out to be chemical in nature. The fire quickly grew and several chemical explosions occurred, destroying the entire building and causing surrounding areas to suffer damage.

Due to the chemicals involved, an evacuation was order for the surrounding area. In addition, Highway 287 was closed as heavy smoke and shrapnel were impacting the highway. Mutual aid from surrounding cities and the Dallas HAZMAT team responded to this incident. Black smoke could be seen for 30+ miles. Two plant workers were reported to have been injured in this blaze.

This same blaze also destroyed a fire truck from the Ennis fire department which was one of the departments at the scene providing mutual aid.
