Well the roof looks "ventilated" but shouldn't the windows have been broken out? At least release some of the heat and give more areas of exterior attack?

That seems to be quite hot. Trouble with wooden houses, they burn quick and hot. We have a similar problem in South Africa with Thatch roof houses that go untreated for a number of years and burn quickly and hot.
