This video previews the options for using a VRS to rescue a victim - Whether that victim is a Civilian or a fellow Firefighter. The techniques for performing a VRS rescue can be grouped into 2 main categories or methods: "Primary" Deployment and "Secondary" Deployment (also known as the Byrne technique). Just like any other piece of equipment or technique none of the procedures being previewed are infallible - However with enough training and practice they can be a very effective tool to help save a victims life when all other traditional methods for rescue have been exhausted or are unavailable due to deteriorating conditions.
