NEW YORK (CBS 2/1010 WINS) -- Flames destroyed a supermarket and several other buildings on Flatbush Avenue in the Flatlands Section of Brooklyn Sunday.

The three-alarm fire started around 1 a.m. and was not under control until after 4 a.m.

A bagel store, Chinese Restaurant, Chase Bank, and Mac's Men's Store were all destroyed in the blaze. A hardware store and grocery store were damaged.

The family-run Mac's supplies uniforms to the NYPD, EMTs, the NYC Department of Corrections and other City agencies. CBS 2′s Kathryn Brown spoke with the owner.

"It's been in this neighborhood over 88 years, and this is a very devastating thing that happened. Multiple businesses are out of business. We deal with so many people in the community and the neighborhood. I just hope we can rebuild and come back," said Anthony Balzofiore.

It was the second time tragedy hit this block. In 1997 across the street there was a huge building collapse that shut down the block, and the businesses there were out of commission.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.

Seems Ironic to use the k-12 to gain entry into a locksmith store.
