Keen to know what the current outlooks is on being deployed to another station when one obtains a promotion. The reason i post this is because after working for 12 years in one station and having lived for 44 years in the area i just think it a little bit crazy to move to another station where i have absolutely no idea of the area or any hot spots. I understand the reason for not working with the same people due to friendships obtained but i'm pretty sure just changing shift would be beneficial to keeping me in the area. All comments welcome

Hey man feel fortunate that you made it this long....Our dept shuffles people around just cause in there eyes "gets you a wider experience" I have been at my station for 6 years and am the senior man on the Engine company and you wanna bring in a rookie to be paired with a new Lt, and guys with only 2 or three years on. Makes no sense.

Not complaining about the move but the station i'm leaving only has one officer on the one shift, the other shifts do not have officers only acting officers

Ahh so all the other senior officers from the other shifts must have their personal lives uprooted... that would go over well. Pretty standard here, you go to the group and the station that has the vacancy.

All part of the promotional curve...
