Playing Music on Handhelds
I don't know about everyone else but I think that its stupid when people key up their mics for he heck of it or they'll play music on their radios.That line is supposed to be for emergencies only.Like a few weeks ago we were getting toned out but I couldn't hear everything Mecca(Dispatch) was saying because someone started keying their mic up and it was over riding our tones.What does everyone else think about the subject?

yeah it aggrevates me big time when they do it.I hate to even holler on it when I need to sometimes.Our Chief and officers they'll let us know each week in our meetings if we're on the radio too much.We got one guy who likes to talk on it.lol the fire whistle blew and we had to go check out this Middle School up the road here.

I hate it. Both as a dispatcher & a Fire Chief I've dealt with this childishness on both ends of the radio. Alot of times it's someone just sitting on a mic not realising they are doing it or some kid thinks it's a toy. But you do find those immature adults who think an emergency radio is a CB.
