The extrication world has changed over the years in more ways than one.  Vehicle construction, tool technology, and an evolution of techniques has created both challenges and advancements for rescue personnel.  As you read this post and watch the video below, reflect on some old school techniques that still work, but also embrace technology in the extrication world.  Read on.

There's no doubt that many have forgotten the basics. It seems that all too often the first tools out the truck (except for those in uniform!!!) are the jaws.

 

The back-to-basics needs to be covered off and everyone needs to remember that extrication is all about options. The jaws is only one option. As is the hacksaw. As is the high lift jack. And on and on it goes.
